An attosecond is an incredibly short unit of time. There are as many attoseconds in one second as there have been seconds in the entire history of the universe. It is actually very difficult to comprehend how short they are.
Not even Anne L’Huillier, professor of atomic physics at Lund University, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2023 and was the first to discover overtones, short light pulses on the attosecond scale, fully understands how short they are.
