Heart attack and other diseases can be reduced by gene profiling
Half of the patients who are admitted to hospitals for myocardial infarction are people that are considered having a low risk of falling ill because they exercise, eat healthy and avoid stress. Instead, there are other factors hidden in the genes that cause disease. But if you got to know which gene set you have, you could also counteract that disease breaks out. It can be as simple as drinking more water. Today's tests are not accurate enough but Wallenberg Clinical Scholar Olle Melander at Lund University aims to create reliable gene profiles and treatments to reduce illness.
